I TRIED WHITLEY NEILL'S NEW LIMITED EDITION GIN AND IT'S PERFECT FOR SUMMER

Whitley Neill has launched two new flavoured gins for the summer, and they're the definition of a summer tipple.

The two new flavours include 'Apple & Red Berries' and 'Banana and Guava'. Similar to all the other gins in the Whitley Neill range, the two new exotic flavours have been inspired by founder Johnny Neill's travels.

I was lucky enough to get my hands on the Apple & Red Berries flavour, and after I'd initially got over how beautiful the bottle was, I tried it to confirm it's absolutely delicious.

It's recommended to pair the gin with a tonic, or to use it as part of a summer cocktail. After pouring myself a rather generous serving with plenty of ice, here's what I thought about the gin.

The look

I've been a big fan of the Whitley Neill aesthetic for years, and think that its bottles of gin are absolutely beautiful. The red bottle was incredibly bold and eye-catching, and I really liked the intricate pattern detail.

The bottle was that beautiful that I've already got plans to keep it and use it as an ornament. Considering that the gin is priced at around £30, it'd be a shame for the lovely bottle to go waste - right?

The taste

I was sort of hoping that the gin would have a strong berry taste, because that's by far one of my favourite flavours, but it actually ended up tasting more like apple. It had quite a tang to it, which might not be for everyone, but I found it really refreshing.
The gin wasn't too overpowering which I was really glad about, because let's be honest, there's nothing worse than having a sip of gin and almost coughing it back up because it's too potent. The consistency was super smooth and silky, and the gin was a genuine pleasure to drink.
My only issue with the gin would be the fact that I didn't really get much of a berry taste, it was more like a sour apple. Don't get me wrong, there was a slight hint of berries, but it just wasn't strong enough for me.
Nevertheless, this gin with some cool tonic and a slice of lemon is bound to go down a treat during the summer months. To be honest, I'll probably end up drinking this all year round, because it was such an absolute treat.

The verdict

For those of you that don't like the taste of apple, I'd maybe avoid this particular flavour and try out the Banana and Guava instead (which also has a stunning bottle). The taste of this gin was potent and tangy, and you don't need much of it for a strong and memorable flavour.

As always, the bottle was a thing of beauty, which is why I don't mind spending that extra bit of money on a Whitley Neill gin. I feel like the gins almost tell a story, and the fact they taste great is an absolute bonus.
